Marina Facilities

 

Whangamata Marina offers a comprehensive range of facilities.

Tallyweb - An access code will be provided by way of text message on arrival. If pre-paid power is required a Tally Key card will be issued from the Marina Office for a refundable deposit of $20. We require credit card details for security. If cards are lost or not returned at the conclusion of the lease, Marina Management reserves the right to charge credit cards $100 penalty per security card. For short term leases (1 to 7 day stays) one card will be issued. Security codes and cards give access to pier gates, showers, rubbish and recycling, toilets and laundry. Please make sure you do carry your card with you to avoid being locked in/out. Please do NOT hook gates open after being locked for the night!

Power: All vessels wishing to plug into power need a current NZ Electrical Warrant of Fitness (this to be sighted by marina staff). Your Talley Key smart card can be loaded with any amount of prepaid electricity and can be carried as a credit on your card when you are away.

Fuel: 24 hour diesel is available at the GOfuel dock located at the outside end of pier D inside the marina. eftpos and GOfuel cards are accepted.

Refuelling with petrol is not permitted anywhere within the marina.

Lines: Mooring lines are the responsibility of the boat owner - lines were initially provided by the society with each berth and therefore belong to the berth owner. Please do not alter these lines. To preserve uniformity throughout the marina please contact the marina office if lines require to be altered.

Water: Water is drinkable, to avoid tainted water please use your own hoses and not the fire hoses for drinking. Please remember to turn off the water valves, and hoses.

Trolleys: Trolleys are available at the head of each pier. Please be considerate of others and return the trolleys to the entrance of the pier after use.

Car parking: Ample parking is available for berth owners and guests at no charge.

 

Showers and toilets: Facilities are available behind the Marina Office for berth owners and visitors to the marina. Showers take $2 coins.


Laundry: Washing machines: take 2 x $2.00 coins per load. Dryers: take 2 x $2.00 coins per load.

Rubbish/Recycling: Rubbish bins are located in the recycling and rubbish centre in the car park. No liquids, oil, shellfish, fish bodies or bait. Please sort and use the recycling bins provided. Please break cardboard boxes down before leaving them in the recycling bin.

Waste Oil: A container is available by pier C and also in the hardstand area. For more information on disposal of contaminated liquids please ask the Marina Office. 

Sewage: A portable pump out facility is available on site - free of charge. The Marina is a NO discharge area - please use your holding tanks and onshore facilities.

MARINA INFORMATION:
Insurance:  IMPORTANT All vessels that enter  the Marina are required to have third party insurance (minimum of $5 million required). Please supply a copy of your current insurance details (for information on insurance - contact the Marina Office).

Live aboards: Whangamata Marina is NON  live-aboard marina. You may stay aboard your vessel for 48 hours consecutively, for longer periods you must check with the Marina Manager.

Health and Safety: No welding, grinding, sand/water blasting or spray painting is allowed on the berths within the Marina. When employing a contractor to work on your vessel it is the boat owner's responsibility to ensure that they are dealing with a certified tradesman and that the boat and contractor are insured.

Contractors: All contractors are required to report to the Marina Office to sign in and get a temporary access card and visitors pass.

 

Underwater maintenance: Diving and swimming in the marina poses unacceptable risk of heart fibrilllation due to the potential for stray electrical current. It is essential to contact the marina management before entering the water for any emergency repairs.

 

VHF Channel: For operations within the marina please use channel 73 (limited local coverage only). Whangamata Coastguard operate on channel 04. Channel 28 is a chat channel with excellent coverage for boat to boat communications.

 

Hardstand: Ample trailer boat parking spaces and 35 ton Travelift available (click here for more).
